Map Overview
Based on the 2022 leak footage, trailer analysis, and subsequent insider reports, the GTA6 map is set in the state of Leonida — a fictionalized Florida. Current consensus estimates the map is 1.5x to 2x larger than GTA5's San Andreas.
The map is divided into three major biomes:
- Vice City metro area — Urban core with beaches, skyscrapers, and suburbs
- The Everglades — Swampland with small towns, trailer parks, and airboat routes
- The Keys — Island chain with resorts, mansions, and remote beaches
Vice City & Vice Beach
The urban heart of the map. Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 both show extensive shots of a neon-soaked Vice City skyline at sunset, and a bustling Vice Beach boardwalk.
Vice Beach appears to be the starting area for Lucia, with beachfront hotels, a pier, and the Starfish Island equivalent seen in the distance. The downtown core features 5-6 distinct districts including a financial district, Little Haiti, and a marina.
Notable landmarks identified from trailers:
- Vice Beach Boardwalk — Based on Miami Beach's Ocean Drive
- Malibu Club — The iconic nightclub, modernized
- Vice City Police Department — Art deco building with a neon sign
- Ocean View Hotel — Pink neon exterior, likely a safehouse
- Starfish Island — The rich neighborhood from GTA:VC, now more developed
The Everglades & Port Gellhorn
West of Vice City, the map transitions from urban to swamp. The 2022 leak showed Lucia piloting an airboat through narrow mangrove channels. This region appears to be about 30% of the total landmass.
- Port Gellhorn — A run-down industrial town with a container port, motels, and strip clubs. Likely a base for Jason's story.
- Gator Keys — Small islands in the swamp accessible only by boat or air
- Trailer parks — Multiple small communities scattered through the wetlands
The Keys & Islands
Stretching southwest from Vice City, a chain of tropical islands (based on the Florida Keys) connects to a remote resort island. The Overseas Highway-style bridge was prominently featured in Trailer 1.
- Key West analogue — Southernmost point with a resort, lighthouse, and marina
- Private islands — At least 2-3 small islands with mansions (potential heist locations)
- Military island — Rumored restricted area to the east (could be the GTA6 equivalent of Fort Zancudo)
